Some 40 delegates representing various associations of former residents of San Pablo City, Philippines marked the end of their week-long conference in this city with a decision to form a confederation to be known as "Seven Lakes (San Pablo City) International." According to Sonia Suarez-de Guzman, president of the Seven Lakes (San Pablo) Association of British Columbia, the host organization, the newly organized confederation will gather together eight different organizations of San Pablenos in the United States and Canada to coordinated their programs and services, and support collectively deserving projects to benefit the poor and the needy in San Pablo City, Laguna. The conference elected an interim board of directors of the confederation and adopted their mission statement on August 12, 1999. The international conference was capped with a dinner and dance at the Delta Resort Hotel in Richmond on August 14 with new Vancouver Consul-General Zenaida Tacorda-Rabago as guest of honor.
